I’m planning an IMAP-to-Google Workspace migration and the part I’m most concerned about is keeping years of email organized. I don’t want users to open Gmail and find everything dumped into one place. Google’s documentation explains that IMAP migration involves mapping source accounts to Workspace accounts, while folders are represented through Gmail’s label structure.

For this type of project, I’ve been looking at the DRS Softech IMAP to Google Workspace Migration Tool . What I like is that it lets you preview folders, subfolders, email counts and attachments before actually migrating anything. It also preserves the mailbox hierarchy and lets you define custom folder names.

It supports sources such as Gmail, Yahoo, Zoho, Outlook.com, GoDaddy, AOL, Roundcube, Horde, Zimbra, cPanel and other IMAP servers. That seems useful when employees are coming from different providers.

Has anyone used DRS Softech for a real IMAP-to-Workspace migration? I’d especially like to hear how well the folder organization translated after migration and whether the preview helped with selecting only the required data.

You can give a go to Shoviv IMAP to Google Workspace Migration Software . It's built for moving mailboxes from IMAP servers and hosted email accounts into Workspace, and it keeps the original folder hierarchy and subfolders intact during migration. It supports batch migration too, useful if you're moving multiple users. Since you have different source providers, it's worth testing a couple of tools on a sample mailbox first before deciding.
