I have some large PST archives where I don’t actually need to move everything. I only want certain date ranges and specific types of messages in Microsoft 365. Is there a practical way to Migrate PST to Office365 selectively?

I’d prefer not to import years of unnecessary emails and then clean them up afterward. At the same time, I need to make sure attachments, folders, and message information remain intact.

The DRS Softech PST to Office365 tool looks interesting because it provides filtering options before migration. The ability to apply date and attachment filters could help narrow down what gets transferred. I also like the fact that the PST contents can be previewed first, so I can confirm the folders and items before starting the actual migration.

For larger projects, bulk migration is another useful feature. Instead of repeating the process for every archive, multiple PSTs can be handled as part of the migration workflow. Duplicate removal should also help when some users already have overlapping archive data.

The destination can be selected within Office 365, including a mailbox, public folder, or online archive. That gives some flexibility depending on how the organization wants to store historical data.

Has anyone used selective filters during a PST-to-Office-365 migration? I’m particularly interested in whether filtering made a noticeable difference in migration time and cleanup afterward.
