Hello VisualCron Team,

I am trying to setup email notifications, but I get 2 different eror messages depending on the port I use. When I use port 465 I get a read exception and it mentions that the recipient was not able to respond. When I use port 25, I get a message about a STARTTLS not being able to issue a command. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

the Email Notification needs some work to be able to support Gmail. Please use the Email Task instead for now.

It looks like VisualCron’s built‑in email notification doesn’t fully support Gmail’s authentication and secure ports, which is why you’re seeing read exceptions on port 465 and STARTTLS issues on port 25. A reliable workaround is to set up an Email Task instead of using the generic notification — that tends to work better with Gmail’s security requirements. Also double‑check your SMTP settings (correct server, SSL/TLS options, and app‑specific passwords for Gmail) to make sure they match Gmail’s current requirements. Since forum support isn’t actively monitored here, if that doesn’t help you might want to reach out directly through VisualCron’s official support channels.
