One issue I constantly run into with mailbox exports is duplicate data. Over time, duplicate emails can increase storage requirements and make backups unnecessarily large.
I noticed that DRS Softech Microsoft 365 Backup Tool  includes a built-in duplicate email removal feature. According to the documentation, it can identify duplicates using fields such as To, From, Subject, Body, and BCC information before completing the backup process.
Another feature I found practical was the ability to save emails with or without attachments. Sometimes you only need message content for compliance purposes and don't want large attachment files increasing backup size. The software can also save attachments separately, which could make file management easier.
Combined with date filters and custom folder naming, it seems designed to give administrators more control over how mailbox data is stored and organized. I'm curious whether these filtering options actually reduce storage consumption in real-world environments. Anyone tested this extensively?
